COOLDOWN

¿Who thinks the mindfulness exercises are not only to do them in a class or in a job?

These techniques can also be applied to sports. Everyone knows that if you do any activity or you play for a team or a club you will need to be concentrated some times. We can make up the level of how calm you need to be into two kinds of sports.

First one if you compete individually like maybe swimming, tennis or ping pong you must learn how to come back to the calm during the competition, because in this short period of time you are alone. You have to throw away the stress and the anxiety, because with theses on your mind you wont be good doing anything.

On the other hand if you work in pairs or on a team like football players you need to have the same kind of mindfulness for your own but from my point of view, with less pressure. I mean you will have your teammates next to you on the field or wherever they can help you if you need it and also the pressure of wining is on the shoulders of all the team. Here the one that has to work more is the coach he must control twenty five brains and keep them from having any troubles between each other and the opinions of the players in each situation, it isn´t easy!!!.

In sports of high contact like handball or rugby it´s easy to lose your mind after receiving a hit or feeling pain and that´s when you need to take a breath and calm your mind to prevent yourself from doing anything stupid. If you receive a kick and you get up and punch the player that hits you maybe the referee will give you a yellow card or a red one and your team will lose because of playing with one less player.  So take two seconds and think before doing something that you really don´t want to do!!

My experience with meditation

Hello dear classmates.

It´s true that all of us have experience with some form of meditation in class, the mindfulness meditation but, when we begun to practice this mindfull meditation at the beggining of the course I already had some experience with meditation.
It was around September-October of the last year when, after watching some interesant videos about this topic on Youtube, I decided to start with this amazing practice. I had already thought about starting meditation many times since I was a kid, when I had a fantastic, magic and really crazy idea about how this could be. So I begun practicing meditation feeling quite confuse about the right way to do it and, it was some time later when I realized that there isn´t a specific correct way to do it. I sat in my bed (not the best place to do it) and I remember what the people in the  videos told me, I was really excited so it was a bit difficult to put the attention in the moment and not in my thoughts. I tried  not to think (wich was a funny problem because I was thinking in don´t think) and I spent 20 minutes dealing with the don´t thinking issue. However, I have to say that, despite of it was my first time I had some magical moments when Ionly felt (only for a few seconds) amazing sensations and feelings.

I was doing this almost every day and I was improving step by step my attention, mi sensitiviy about what I felt and, the most important thing, knowing me better as a human being. I remember specially the feeling that I had when I finished my meditation sesions, it was like I was there more than ever, I had all my senses so activated and my mind was very quiet. I could  listen better  what  my heart was saying to me.
It was when I discovered a new meditation tecnique called "Do nothing" when my mind changed. This tecnique is about sitting your self down and let your thoughts come and go...all of them. At the same time, you have to control your breath and stay in your place. This was shocking because I thinked that meditation was about being present to the moment but, meditation is bigger than that. With this new tecnique a lot of uncomfortable thoughts came to my mind and it was weird at first but, as the days past, I was knowing myself  much better and deeper. Some thoughts didn´t want to go, others yes, I cried, I laughed and I felt a lot of things.

Nowadays, I´m still practicing meditation and I love to do it in nature, with a nice, warming sun. Also, it´s great if there are animals like horses or birds in there and, talking about what kind of method or techique I am using, I must say that I don´t follow a specific method (mindfullness for example) instead, I combine some aspects from some tecniques and I do what I feel is the better for me. Besides this, I experienced really crazy things while meditating, for example, I felt an incredible burst of energy coming out from my chest, I see the things undulating in front of me and I laughed for almost minutes.
Finally, I will always remember when I lay down in the field behind my house, with the horses, with the sound of the birds and with the sun warming me, enjoying life and feeling like I was in some kind of heaven.
