International Dance Day and Jean-Georges Noverre

April 29th is coming, so I have decided to talk about the International Dance Day, an annual celebration to allow the world to recognize dance as a professional art form.

April 29th is the day chosen to celebrate such an important and outstanding art in our society as dance, so this day is all about celebrating the history of dance and recognizing its place across all cultures.

Do you want to know more about this day?

We can enjoy this day since 1982 and The Dance Committee of the International Dance chose April 29th because on this day was born one of the most important dancers and choreographers named Jean-Georges Noverre

Jean-Georges Noverre is renowned as the creator of modern ballet, because he left a great legacy in the world of dance, since he published different studies on ballet theory.

Each year, a guest speaker who is involved with the world of dancing is chosen to deliver the message of this important day.

International Dance Day is a tribute to the millions of people who have dedicated their lives to dance which gives us the ability to communicate emotions deeper than our language.

  2. Very interesting, Eva!
In my opinion, dance is a very important part of our lives in general. I don't know how to dance ballet, can you?
Personally, dancing is one of the things that I like to do the most, along with singing, and it is that music really gives me life and helps me a lot according to my mood.
In this sense, I very much agree with the last thing you say, and that is that dance allows us to express ourselves in a unique way, being able to communicate feelings and emotions that words do not allow us to verbalise.

  3. Oh, Eva, your post it´s a good example of how we can use a brief format to communicate a good idea or interesting information. What a surprise to discover that part of dance´s history in this blog!

Another thing I like so much is the number of classmates how practise any kind of dance. I know at least three girls who do (or did in the past) ballet, and the physical preparation for doing it and the beauty of the movements are sooo great that I love that dedication.
